Uniform 36 mm starter plugs for seeds and cuttings.

Grodan AO 36/40 plugs are square stone wool plugs joined at the top into sheets of 98. Each sheet fits a standard 10 x 20 propagation tray. They are made for germinating seeds and rooting cuttings. Every plug has the same density, firmness and fibre structure, so water, nutrients and pH spread evenly. Grodan stone wool is naturally slightly alkaline, so soak at pH 5.5 to bring the plug to approximately pH 6.2. Grodan recommends a nutrient solution of EC 1.5 to 2.5 mS/cm for soaking. Water once the tray has lost 40 to 50% of its starting weight. When four or five white root tips show at the sides or base, usually after 14 to 18 days, move it into a Grodan Delta 4G 40/40, Delta 10G or Hugo.
