The Can-Fan RS 100 is an inline centrifugal fan for moving air through a compatible ventilation system. This is the RS 100/200 version: the manufacturer lists 100mm connections and a capacity of 200 cubic metres per hour. Its steel housing and backward-curved impeller distinguish it from a simple open circulation fan.

Use the fan as part of a planned duct route for intake or extraction. Choose the filter, fittings and controls together with the fan, allowing room to access the connections and service the surrounding equipment. A matching diameter is one compatibility check; the resistance of the whole system also matters.

Can-Fan RS 100 specifications

The manufacturer lists a metal housing, 100mm diameter, 200m³/h capacity, 54W power and 0.3A current for the RS 100/200. Its RS range uses powder-coated sheet steel, maintenance-free ball bearings and a backward-curved impeller. The motor has a thermal switch that interrupts operation at an unsafe operating temperature.

These figures identify the 100/200 model. The similarly named RS 100L/250 is a different version with a different capacity. Compare the complete model designation when replacing a fan or checking a quoted specification, rather than selecting solely by the 100mm connection size.

Understanding the airflow figure

The listed 200m³/h is a fan capacity, rather than a promise of airflow at the end of every installation. A carbon filter, duct length, bends, reducers and outlet fittings all add resistance. Keep the route as direct as the room permits and review the combined system before deciding that a nominal airflow is sufficient.

For unit comparison, 200m³/h is approximately 55.6 litres per second: 200 multiplied by 1,000, then divided by 3,600. This is an arithmetic conversion of the listed capacity, not a separate measurement or a prediction of the airflow through your filter.

Duct and filter compatibility

Match the Can-Fan RS 100 to suitable 100mm ducting and connection fittings. Check the actual mating connections and any adapters required before installation. Support the duct so its weight and bends do not pull against the fan connections, and leave the equipment accessible for inspection.

The manufacturer lists CAN-Lite 150, CAN2600 and CAN9000 among its preferred filter options for this model. Check the exact filter specification, connection arrangement and operating requirements before combining equipment. A filter recommendation does not mean that a filter is included with this fan.

Speed control and motor protection

Can-Fan identifies the RS 100/200 as speed controllable. Select a controller specifically compatible with this motor and follow the fan and controller instructions. The published RS information describes voltage or frequency control; that does not establish compatibility with every general-purpose dimmer or lighting control.

Treat the thermal switch as protection for the motor. If it interrupts operation, investigate the installation and operating conditions rather than assuming that repeated stopping is normal. Keep the air path clear and follow the supplied instructions for mounting and electrical connection.

Planning daily operation

At a constant 54W, an illustrative 24 hours of operation uses 1.296kWh: 0.054kW multiplied by 24 hours. Actual consumption can vary with control and operating conditions. Use your measured consumption and electricity tariff to estimate running costs; the example excludes other ventilation equipment.
